Long Island Green Homes

Free Energy Audit

Picture
Tens of thousands of Long Island homeowners have already received free energy audits (conservatively a $400 value *) because New York State and PSEG Long Island recognize that having an energy efficient home is not only good for the environment, but also good for your wallet and the local economy.

Long Island Green Homes is being administered by and for Long Islanders via a non-profit collaborative project of Long Island towns, community organizations, and Molloy College.

  • The FREE energy audit is the first step to lowering your energy bills, and in making your home more comfortable year-round.
  • Learn where your home's biggest energy efficiency gains can be made.
  • Receive a comprehensive report of your home's energy use conducted by a certified professional.
  • Fix any energy efficiency issues with affordable improvements.
  • Every home energy audit includes a carbon monoxide safety check of your home's combustible appliances.

Every energy auditor in our program is Long Island-based and Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified. BPI is a national organization that sets the technical standards for contractors in energy-efficient building performance, so you know they’re applying the latest knowledge and technology to the energy efficiency of your home. Certification requires that an individual conforms to specified standards, and often involves a written, and sometimes a field or practical exam. Individuals who have been certified through nationally-recognized organizations are trained to build, install, and service clean energy equipment/systems using best practices and quality work.

Our experienced Energy Navigators are not salespeople. They are here to help and answer your questions every step of the way.

 * According to Angi.com, energy audit prices vary depending on region, but typically range from $200 to $650 nationally.
HomeAdvisor lists the price of a New York area audit at the higher end of that spectrum, or over $600.
