What People are Saying About Long Island Green Homes

Karen H. in West Hempstead says...
"Our energy auditors were very efficient, and had great ideas on how we could save money around our home."

Sandra H. in Baldwin says...
"My contractor was extremely knowledgeable, and his suggestions for the work I have done to my home were reasonable and pragmatic."

Adam H. in Roslyn says...

"Had my home built with a thicker foundation, insulation was blown between the walls, and I had high efficiency boilers and radiant heat installed.  Also, recently had all the outside lighting retrofitted with L.E.D.'s, and I drive an electric car. The purpose was to be as energy efficient as possible."

Susan S. in Huntington says...

"I installed solar panels several months ago. I've spent nothing so far and my PSEG bill has gone as low as $10. It takes some time for the system to be fully operational, but once the solar company starts billing me, I'll pay 15c per kw as opposed to 25c to PSEG. It's a 20 year contract, transferable (should I choose to sell), and the rate can only be raised by 1/4 of 1 cent. It's a great deal -- no downside."

Jeff R. in Bellmore says...

"When we received our audit, we were able to arrange to have the work done that was outlined.

The company who did the testing, sat down with us and completed all the NYSERDA paperwork and came up with a very good price for what was over $12K worth of work. The loan did not work out because of lack of current income, but it was a low enough number that we were able to pay for it outright. The work crew  came in and addressed the problems on the report. A lot of extra insulation was added to the attic and along the cantilevered spaces around the house and in the space between the garage and bedroom floor. Areas around windows were caulked, the front door had added gaskets and the blow test after the work had been done well exceeded the target number.

The impact was immediate. The room over the garage which we use as an office no longer needed an extra heater to make the room barely passable. We can now leave the door open and work comfortably in the room. The master bath can now be used without 15 minutes of preheating with a portable heater. There is much less draft in the living room and lower floor areas.

We were also able to get some assistance with our National Grid bill with a credit of several hundred dollars which is being applied to our spring invoices. Last and certainly not least, we had a solar installation company install a nice array of solar panels at no cost to us and have been producing for almost one month now. We have really “greened up” our home in the last half year.

Thank you so much for getting us started and enabling us to do these sorely needed improvements at a time when we could least afford it. We have been telling friends about your program at Molloy College and strongly encouraged them to look into it and spread the word.

Thank you again and bless you!"

Carin and Robert N. say...

"Dear Long Island Green Homes,

Thank you for taking the time and energy to answer all our questions.....we met with Paul this morning, went over the entire proposal, added some things and took out some others and are meeting with his A/C subcontractor to discuss adding central air to the proposal tonight. Paul was extremely helpful in answering our questions and concerns.....also was honest in what he thought of some of our ideas and if they would be worth the expense/return.

We have spent a couple hours figuring out what we want to do and am sure we will be using Paul and his company to do the upgrades to our home whether we do central air or not.

Again, thanks for all the time you spent with us."

Clayton M. in Old Field says...

"My audit was on a house that was for sale so that future purchasers would have a better understanding of the property should they visualize all the inefficient leaks of energy plugged. My experience with Long Island Green Homes and the audit educated me about how the answers are not always with a tear down and build new approach.

Energy efficiency is a technological challenge that rewards one with the knowledge that you are using as little resources as possible to achieve greater and greater results. Some of this country's oldest structures achieved efficiency by means of their design alone while newer structures combine materials, appliance technology and even behavior efficiency encouraged by these newer designs. An energy audit is the first step in establishing this equity."
